Classes are held on Fridays for 10 weeks beginning at 9:15 a.m. and each last for 55 minute. All classes are by approximate age, please read descriptions and check with instructor.
EVENTS
Nevada History Museum Fieldtrip 10/2013
The Children participated in a fantastic fieldtrip put together by one of our volunteer grandmothers for grades 4th to 6th. A fabulous class full of wonderful games and curriculum taught the student about the history and important events that shaped Nevada and made it what it is today.
SEMESTER 1
We covered experiments from Apologia's young explorer series Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures of the 5th day. The kids learned about whales, seals, sharks, rays, primeval reptiles, fish, aquatic herpes, crustaceans, mollusks, cephalopods, echinoderms, and cnidarians. We will be making Ocean lap books.
SEMESTER 2
We will cover experiments from Apologia's young explorer series Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Swimming Creatures of the 5th day. The kids wll continue on from he prvious semester and learn about fish, aquatic herpes, crustaceans, mollusks, cephalopods, echinoderms, and cnidarians.
BOOK CLUB
The children created their very own book and we had them bound by a printing company. They had the freedom to choose whatever type of book they wanted from comic, biography, fantasy, biblical, text, and more. We supplied the binding, card stock, glue stick, drawing books, and more. We played games and crossword puzzles to learn more about using creativity to be a better writer, such as; linking verbs, adjectives, and noun usage.
